Greene County fell to Carroll High at Carroll Athletic Field on Friday night in the high school football season opener by a 20-0 final. The second half took over 90 minutes to play, primarily due to leg cramps and other injuries that hampered both teams. At one point, there was a stoppage due to cramping, injury, or penalty, on seven of eight plays.
Ram head coach Caden Duncan and the training staff will get a better idea of the injury situation when practice resumes on Monday. Following the game, the coach told Raccoon Valley Radio, the team lost its top three tight ends, multiple linemen, and other players. It remains to be seen who will and won’t play in the Rams’ home opener this Friday vs. Perry in the renewal of the “Cowbell” series.
The Blue Jays equaled their win total of the previous five seasons by defeating Des Moines Hoover 33-18 on Friday night.
