In the recent Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center School Board meeting, Board members discussed some of the changes in the educational field from the last state legislative session.

AC/GC Superintendent Josh Rasmussen says that both the AC and GC School Boards discussed the changes that happened, with much of the focus on one of the funding bills.

“House File 546 was signed into law, extending the Secure an Advanced Vision for Education or SAVE Law through the calendar year 2050. And that law or the SAVE dollars allow districts to borrow against the statewide penny sales tax to help fund school infrastructure projects.”

Rasmussen mentions that both districts’s Revenue Purpose Statements were set to expire in 2029, so both Boards approved the closed Revenue Purpose Statement, allowing them to borrow some of those SAVE funds. He explains that this would not affect the penny sales tax in the districts, and that the measure will be on the ballot in the November elections for voters to decide if the SAVE funds will remain.
