The Greene County Historical Society is hosting its September program on Friday.

Fourth-generation Greene County landowner and farmer Nick Foster is the presenter and will talk about farming in the 1920s. Foster sponsors a steam threshing bee event at the end of July and he will share photos from that era of farms, farmers and steam-powered equipment, as well as models of steam threshers. Foster’s home residence, Pleasant Prairie Farm, has been in his family since 1900 and he started working full time as a farmer since he graduated from Jefferson-Scranton High School in 1980.

The free program takes place at 12:45pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church west of Churdan on Friday. A $10 lunch will be served at noon and reservations must be made by tomorrow by calling 515-386-4408. If attending just the program, no reservations are needed.
