The Perry Jayettes open their season on the volleyball court for the start of the 2023 season tomorrow night against the Roland-Story Norsemen at Perry High School. It was a tougher season for the Jayettes a year ago as they finished 2-5 in the Heart of Iowa conference and 9-28 overall. Head coach Katelyn Whelchel said confidence from last year will help out quite a bit going into this season.

“Looking back at some of the things that we did with our lineup, we had three seniors who contributed largely to our roster, along with a couple of juniors, so we had a pretty young varsity team and we are getting a lot of young girls playing time, which may have been reflected in some of our competitive experiences last year. Now were starting to grow some confidence, we have some kids in positions that have gained experience, and I am excited to see what their going to be able to continue to produce this season,” Whelchel said.

The match will begin at 6:30 PM on tomorrow night. Perry volleyball will look to start off strong with a win, before heading to South Central Calhoun for the SCC Early Bird tournament on Saturday, September 2nd.
