Greene County has a 41-12 record in high school football dating back to the start of the 2018 season after the Rams won 55-14 over Perry last Friday night at Linduska Field in Jefferson. The victory was the sixth straight in “The Cowbell Series” for the Rams improving their lead since the Cowbell was introduced in 1928 to 62-29-2.
The offensive efficiency the Rams showed was impressive because aside from a kneel down to end the first half following a pass interception deep in Greene County territory, the Rams scored on every offensive series. Nine possessions, seven touchdowns, two field goals, and seven extra points. A type of perfection not often obtained, and not easily done from a percentage standpoint, but figure in the distance of Nathan Behne’s three-pointers at 44 and 42 yards, both career bests, and it’s even more impressive. Between Cody Allen’s snaps, Jack Hansen holding the ball, and Behne kicking, plus the rest of the team blocking, the kicking game had never looked better.
The 422 yards of total offense wasn’t too shabby either. Greene County will try to keep the high octane performances going this Friday when they host Class 3A Atlantic at Linduska Field at 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. There is a preliminary JVR (Junior Varsity Reserve) game at 5 p.m.
