Starting today and going through Saturday, there are some big sports related events in Jefferson. WHO-TV’s RV TV is in Jefferson this afternoon and evening ahead of Saturday’s Iowa at Iowa State football game in Ames. A documentary on the JSPC 1999 football team will be shown tonight at 7 in the air-conditioned Sierra Community Theatre.

Thursday the Rams volleyball team hosts Class 4A number 6 Nevada inside the air-conditioned Greene County High School gym to open Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The Rams are off to a 5-3 start under the direction of head coach Chris Heisterkamp.

The Rams play at Linduska Field on Friday with the Atlantic Trojans providing the opposition. The JVR teams play at 5 p.m. with the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Both varsity teams have one once and lost once so far this season.

Saturday at 9 a.m. the middle school grounds in Jefferson will be the site of the Greene County Cross-Country Coed Invitational. The event is free and there will be girls and boys middle school and high school races.
