Athletic officials at Southeast Valley made the decision on Monday afternoon to cancel the cross-country meet it had scheduled for Tuesday due to predicted high temperatures in the mid-90’s. Greene County was to have gone to Gowrie for that meet, but now the Saturday, Sept. 9 Ram Invitational on the Middle School grounds in Jefferson is next up for Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s Rams. Starting time on Saturday morning is 9 o’clock.

WHO-TV didn’t let hot weather prevent it from making a stop in Jefferson Tuesday for it’s annual RV TV tour, held annually the week of the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game. The community was featured on it’s sportscast in the afternoon and evening, and a documentary about the JSPC 1999 football team was shown last night at Sierra Community Theatre. The 10 p.m. Sports on the Des Moines TV station also aired a story about that team of 24 years ago.
