An annual fundraiser is happening later this week in support of a local entity in Jefferson.
The Friends of the Jefferson Library week-long Used Book Sale starts on Friday. Friends Board member Ginny Showman says items at the fundraiser are not only from the inventory of the library but also from donations from the public. She talks about how people can make donations.
“There’s a box in the entryway that you can put in there or if you have too many things, you can contact someone at the library and someone can come pick up the items that you have. We do appreciate children’s books of course, puzzles, games, as well as books, obviously. And we have a sale in the spring, we have the Christmas time sale, and the fall sale is the big one.”
The first day of the book sale is for Friends members only. Showman says it’s a simple and easy form to fill out to become a Friend of the Jefferson Library and the commitment is minimal.
“And we really do encourage you to volunteer. You don’t have to be on the board to volunteer to help the Friends. The book sale is a great way to volunteer but there’s other activities that you can do. It’s just a good one to support a really great library.”
Starting on Saturday through the following Saturday, September 23rd, the book sale is open to the public in the basement of the library. The book sale will end each day at 6pm.
