There are still a few spots left in some of the Greene County Career Exploration Classes.
Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says the first exploration camp was held last week with first through third graders for culinary and there are spots open for the 4th through 8th grade portion this Thursday from 4-5:30pm at the Greene County Career Academy. Hardaway points out other camps that have seats open include education in March and business in April, along with bakery and advanced food and nutrition in December and January.
Hardaway notes the bakery and advanced food and nutrition are classes for youth that have taken the basic culinary courses.
“And you’ll take those food and nutrition skills that you learned at the September classes and you will apply them even more, dig deeper, learn about more food prep, more cutting skills, things like that. And so you’ll take a deeper dive into what you already would’ve done last year in culinary classes or in September of this year.”
Each of those classes has a $10 registration fee. Hardaway adds all other classes have a waiting list and if there is a cancellation, the next person on the waiting list will have the opportunity to do the camp. Contact the Greene County Extension Office in Jefferson at 515-386-2138 to sign up.
