The longest road trip of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference season is tonight for the Greene County Rams when Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s team goes southeast to face PCM in Monroe. The teams are both 0-1 in conference matches and their overall record are nearly identical as well with the Rams at 8-6 and the Mustangs at 7-7.
The Rams played on Saturday in Eldora at the South Hardin tournament and won the consolation bracket after starting the day with losses to Class 2A number 8 South Hardin and Central City before getting three straight victories over West Central Valley (Stuart), Grand View Christian (Des Moines) and Boone to go 3-2 on the day.
The Rams have just two seniors on the team and both are off to strong starts. Kaylee Stalder is the team leader in kills and Graci Cooklin has more digs than any other Greene County player.
Greene County stays on the road for a Thursday night conference match in Jewell vs. South Hamilton.
