September is the month of signing up for a library card nationwide.

Perry Public Librarian Mindy Farmer says that they are encouraging residents to come into the library and learn more about signing up for a library card. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that someone wanting a library card must show proof they live in Perry, fill out information and create a password. She notes that people can also get the process started online.

“At our Website, the perry.lib.ia.us, you just click on that homepage where it says, get a library card so you could give us all your information and we could get things started for you. And then you just come in and confirm your ID with us and we’ll get you your library card.”

Farmer says they have some other resources other than books such as audio books, ebooks, movies, music, programs, learning new languages and educational courses. She mentions that children can also get a library card with an adult’s permission.
