A reminder that today is a special event taking place at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County.

Art in the Garden is happening from 10am-4pm and organizer Ginny Showman says there are about 13 artists that will be selling a variety of the works of art. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about the makeup of the artists.

“There’s some local artists and there’s quite a few from around the area (including) there’s one from Indianola, a couple from Des Moines, a lady that’s coming from southeast Iowa. We’ve got a wider range of folks and it’s kind of fun because Jefferson is becoming more and more known for artwork. So it’s nice that we can show off a little bit.” 

Additionally, Showman says there will be sidewalk chalk contests for everyone of all ages with prizes to be awarded at the end, along with face painting, food trucks and live music. A Des Moines-based group called Deep Roots will perform from 11:30am-1pm and then it will be the Town and Country Band from 3-4pm. Attendees can bring their own seating to enjoy the music.
