A Boone man was recently sentenced to probation for a Greene County incident.

According to court documents, 42-year-old Brandon Svaleson pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree fraudulent practices. He had a two year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for one year with Boone and Greene County Probation Services.

The charge stemmed from an incident at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson on January 14th. Svaleson won a jackpot on a slot machine for $1,231. He asked 31-year-old Katie Wisecup of Ames to sit at his machine and claim the jackpot. After reviewing video surveillance, it was determined that Svaleson won the jackpot and had over $24,000 that he owed through the Iowa Department of Administrative Services Offset Program.

Court documents show that Svaleson was also ordered to pay over $1,500 in fines, surcharges, court costs, court-appointed attorney fees and victim restitution. As per the plea agreement, Svaleson had a Class D Felony for passing a winning wager to another person dismissed.
