Scattered storms dropped significant amounts of rainfall all around central Iowa on Tuesday and Wednesday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Marvin Perchan says that these storms have been hit or miss with some communities receiving a lot of rain while other areas did not. Parchan says that the drought conditions can improve in areas that received the most rainfall, but it won’t be drastic.
“Given the nature of the drought, the long term nature of the drought and also the spottiness of the rain, it’s really not enough to help much. What we need more is more widespread, um, and greater amounts of rain to really put a big dent in the drought.”
According to the National Weather Service this week, Jefferson has seen 1.19 inches of rainfall, Perry reported 1.02 inches of rain and Guthrie Center had one inch.
