Harvest season is underway in Iowa, which means slow moving and wide farm machinery will be on rural roads and highways.
Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante says that motorists will need to give farmers space on the roadway to do their job. Infante mentions that the farm equipment should have flashing lights, but they can’t move evasive and can’t move as fast. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that if a motorist wants to pass by a piece of farm equipment in the right lane they need to follow the passing zones laws.
Infante mentions one of the biggest mistakes they see on the roadways is a motorist trying to pass a farm vehicle when they’re trying to turn left. Infante says the two biggest tips are to be alert and drive with caution when approaching farm vehicles.
