The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During reports, County Attorney Thomas Laehn gave an update on the 28E agreement with the City of Jefferson on the animal shelter. He said the current agreement has the county paying $6,000 annually with the intent to pay $20,000 once the new shelter was built. He mentioned that in the city’s draft it stated that the contribution from the county would start at $20,000 and increase annually. Laehn said he took the position that the county would only pay $20,000 and for that not to increase. The other component of the draft that Laehn has concerns with is if the agreement is terminated that the city would keep the accumulated property. Laehn proposed that if the agreement is terminated then the accumulated property would go back to the purchaser. Laehn said he is waiting for the city to send communication back about those changes.
Then the Board approved Supervisor Dawn Rudolph to serve on the Central Iowa Community Services Regional Advisory Committee. Rudolph was the county representative on the regional governing board for CICS, but due to a change by Governor Kim Reynolds, only six county supervisors can serve on a mental health regional governing board at one time and the other county representatives were required to serve on this new advisory committee.
