The Perry Area Food Pantry is looking for certain items during a time of economic uncertainty.

Food Pantry Manager Lou Hoger says that they have seen an increase in the number of people utilizing the pantry. Hoger explains that they will always have a variety of items in stock such as pasta, pasta sauce, chicken noodle soup, canned fruit and vegetables and beans. Hoger tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they welcome donations of salad dressings, condiments, a variety of soups, hamburger helper and breakfast cereal.

“We’ve had a dramatic increase. For example, for a long time, say our average at a pantry would be maybe between. 12 and 18 households. Then it moved up into the up into the up into the 21 or 22. We had a record a while back of 29 households. That was a shocker. And then a couple of weeks later we had 31. The economy has a lot to do with that.”

The Perry Area Food Pantry is open from 10am until 2pm on Tuesdays and 3 to 6pm on Thursdays for anyone that needs assistance or wants to donate.
