Hometown Heritage Carnegie Library Museum will have an exhibit in October inspired by Fire Prevention Month and the history of Perry’s Fire Department. 

The exhibit will focus on Perry’s firefighter history throughout October and feature displays of firefighter equipment and gear, plus photographs and local history. Director Mary Murphy says that some of the items on display at the exhibit will be touchable. 

“For those of you in Perry that weren’t here when the Fire Museum was open on Second Street. A lot of the things that were there will be here at Carnegie. If you know what a turnout suit is. There’ll be a turnout suit. That’s the suit that the fireman’s wear for fighting fires and a turnout suit. They have boots that they strap on and your kids can try on these boots.”

The Carnegie Library and Museum will also host a program called “Conversation With…Two Generations of Perry Fireman” from 6 to 7pm on October 19th The Perry Firefighter History Exhibit is free and open to the public. Carnegie Fall Library hours are as follows: Sunday and Monday closed, Tuesday-Wednesday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Thursday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Friday-Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
