
Some heat records were broken over the weekend in the Raccoon Valley Radio area with the unseasonably warm temperatures in the fall season.
According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie Center broke three records, including a daytime high of 91 degrees on Friday, which the record was set just two years ago at 90 degrees in 2021. Then on Saturday, Guthrie Center, Perry and Jefferson each saw new or tied records. Guthrie Center had 93 degrees, which broke the record of 92 degrees set in 1937. Jefferson had 91 degrees, which broke the record in 1981 at 90 degrees. Perry tied its record that was set in 1937 at 92 degrees.
Sunday had Guthrie Center breaking yet another heat record at 94 degrees, and the previous record was in 1956 at 92 degrees. Perry also set a record on Sunday at 93 degrees, overtaking the record in 1956 at 92 degrees.
The National Weather Service is reporting that after today, temperatures will slide back down to normal averages into the mid to lower 70s for daytime highs until this weekend when temperatures dip down into the mid 50s for Friday and Saturday.
