The City of Perry recently acquired the Hotel Pattee and La Poste along with connected parking lots and properties from a donation of Perry Economic Development.

City Administration Sven Peterson says that this has been a two year process of working with members of the  Perry Economic Development along with Perry Hospitality Inc. and Osmudson’s Manufacturing who provided a donation to the city to take ownership of these properties. Peterson says the city’s mission is to maintain and be good managers of these properties.

“The stewardship has kind of ebbed and flowed with different ownership. So we’re really excited to be able to really wrap our hands around these properties as a community. Again, this is a community project, not a city project, not an economic development project. This is a community project to really bring the ownership of these homes to the community and the community members.”

Peterson says another goal of this project is to not put any of the burden on taxpayers.

At this time, we’re really only looking at alternative sources of revenue other than the tax rolls. So, no, you know, tax revenue, bond issues, things like that. Property tax, revenue, bonds. So definitely have our ears to the ground for some grant opportunities. There’s one that’s going to be coming open soon through the state. So always looking for those external dollars to really make some projects happen as we’ll talk.”

The Perry Economic Development had previously purchased the properties from Maxwell Hospitality inc.
