One amenity in Jefferson will soon have some additional parking spaces.

The Jefferson City Council approved at their most recent meeting a resolution to remove the no parking area on South Vine Street, just east of the former Greene County Middle School gym. Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson explains why this change came about.

“The Children’s Center specifically is really looking for some additional parking for their staff and then for the parents who are dropping off (their children). So actually the way the existing code read, the diagonal parking was allowed in that area. So just didn’t make any changes to the code, this is just a resolution to remove the hashed no parking areas and then diagonal parking will be allowed in that area.”

The no parking area was established when the gymnasium was being used by the Greene County School District when the three-story building was a middle school.
