For the first time since the 2017 high school football season, the Greene County Rams have lost as many as three regular season games. In fact, the Rams are 3-4 overall and 1-3 in Class 2A District 8 and they’ll be trying to break a three game losing streak on Friday at Des Moines Christian School in Urbandale. If the Rams can win, they’ll give themselves a chance at securing one of the four playoff spots the district has. Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) has the top spot wrapped up and Roland-Story (Story City) will be the second place team.

If the Rams win at DMC and if Southeast Valley (Gowrie) loses to Kuemper Catholic, a three-way tie would be created between the Lions, Jaguars, and Rams for the third and fourth playoff spots. If that happens, tie-breaking rules from the Iowa High School Athletic Association would be used to break the tie. It appears Greene County would need to win by 11 or more points in order to make the playoffs, so simply winning at DMC may not be enough to extend the season.

Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7 o’clock.
