Dallas Center-Grimes put together a great performance on both sides of the football in a district win on Friday in week 8.

The Mustangs defeated the Winterset Huskies in a final score of 31-10 to improve their record to (4-4). Dallas Center-Grimes started out hot with a 10 play opening drive that finished in a two yard rushing touchdown from Eli Carpenter. Then the defense would force a Winterset punt and answer with a Dylan Lackland field goal from 32 yards out to go up 10-0 in the first quarter. The Mustang offense would keep things rolling in the second quarter with a Ty Mikkelsen touchdown pass to freshman Wyatt Valenta from two yards. That would be Valenta’s first touchdown in his high school career. Winterset would make a field goal before half trailing 17 to 3.

Winterset would come out of half and score with a 31 yard pass play to Kade White. Dallas Center-Grimes would quickly respond in the third quarter with a pass play and touchdown to Hudson Heidgerken from five yards and Carpenter would rush for another touchdown from one yard out in the fourth quarter.

Dallas Center-Grimes will now have a (3-1) district six record and will have to beat Lewis Central for a chance to make the playoffs. Raccoon Valley Radio will make the trip to Council Bluffs next Friday. Tune into KDLS-2 for all your Mustang coverage.
