Recent rainfall has started to alleviate drought conditions in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.

According to the US Drought Monitor, Guthrie and Green Counties are facing mainly moderate drought conditions, with the southern edge of Guthrie County and the northern edge of Green County still in a severe drought. Dallas County is facing mainly severe drought conditions, with the northwest corner in moderate drought conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, Perry has seen 0.73 inches of rain so far this month, with the average rainfall in October as 1.13 inches. Jefferson has received 0.57 inches while usually seeing 1.16 inches of precipitation, and Guthrie Center has reported 0.42 inches of rain, and usually receives 1.17 inches.
