The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday.

Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that most of the larger items they covered were more run of the mill, keep everything running smoothly decisions, like bids for snow removal, open enrollment, resignations and contract recommendations. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Board also approved a resolution pertaining to threats of violence and violence perpetrated by students.

“It’s age specific, so it’s broken up, and I believe it’s Pre-K (to) two, and then three through five, six through eight, and then nine through twelve. And what it does, it just gives different levels of severity for students who make threats of violence or cause incidents of violence in a school. I don’t think it’s anything earth shattering, it’s just, you have to take the legislative wording and apply it to your policies locally.”

Shockley mentions that in his report, he told the Board the certified enrollment number that they had received, which helps the state decide how much funding per pupil is awarded to each school district, and that West Central Valley School Districts certified enrollment for the 2023-24 school year was 934.8, and the current number of students served is 797.5.
