It’s been three months since the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office began taking over the dispatching duties for the City of Perry.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn says that they have had no interruptions since the new shift in services. Vaughn says the biggest change has been with how their staff operates.

Our staff has had to make a few adjustments as far as how we process our records and that kind of thing. But as far as getting the information to us, you know, Dallas County is doing a great job and that’s pretty seamless. And they’ve got some great tools and great people that are able to get that information out there. And we’re able to share information a little bit better through being all on the same system.”

Vaughn says another change people will notice is that their non-emergency line has an automated menu and is only available from 7am until 3pm Monday through Friday. The Dallas County Dispatch is available for 24 hours a day
