The 2023 State XC championship meets will kick off this upcoming week at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge. Perry will have 1 representative in the state meet. That would be Yonas Andemichael after he qualified for the state meet in the state qualifier a week ago at Pella Sports Park with a time of 16:48:87. I am going to take a look at some of the top times that Andemichael has put up this season for the Bluejays that has got him to this point. Yonas has been pretty consistent with each time in the back half of his 2023 cross country season. Starting with his time back on Thursday, September 28th in the Leon Fox Invite at Perry Golf and Country Club, Andemichael crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 17:12:60 and took 6th place overall in that meet. Yonas put up a similar time of 17:16:30 at the Saydel Cross Country Invitational back at the beginning of this month on October 5th. That was good to place him in 8th overall in Perry’s final regular season meet of the season. Fast forward to the Heart of Iowa Conference meet on October 9th, Andemichael finished in second place overall with a time of 17:20:68. Yonas finally followed that  up with the personal record time of 16:48:87 in the state qualifying meet this past week. He will look to build upon that and take that into the state meet coming up on Saturday.

The gun will go off at 2:45 on Saturday from Fort Dodge. I will have much more Perry state XC coverage as we get closer to Saturday here on KDLS. You can also find coverage on our website at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
