A Woodward man was recently sentenced following a guilty verdict by a jury in Greene County District Court.
According to court documents, a jury found 45-year-old Thomas Caldwell guilty in August of possession of a controlled substance. Court documents show that Caldwell was sentenced on a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine charge to three years of probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections, after District Court Judge Joseph McCarville suspended a 15 year prison sentence.
The charge stemmed from an incident at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson on November 2, 2022. Surveillance video showed a baggie with a crystallized substance dropped onto the floor of the casino from Caldwell.
Court documents also show that Caldwell was ordered to pay over $1,000 in court costs and court-appointed attorney fees.
