A unique opportunity is coming up for pre-teens and teens in the Jefferson area.
Jefferson Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount encourages any 5th-12th grader to participate in the Costume Contest taking place on Monday from 6-8pm at the Greene County Community Center. She talks about why she wanted to have something like this for the older youth in the community.
“We have – and I know from firsthand experience because some of the eighth graders, they are freshmen (in high school) now – we have like insanely creative, theatrical, talented, out there kids who make incredible things on a daily basis. Halloween, I don’t know about you, but Halloween in my case was always a good excuse to show off like my costuming talents things like that. I know there’s going to be kids like that too and I just wanted to give them a program where they could really like show that off, where they could be around like-minded kids and maybe win a prize depending on who’s costumes the best.”
There will be two divisions, 5th-8th and 9th-12th grades. Prizes will be awarded for the scariest, cutest, most unique, best group costume and overall best costume. There will also be games and snacks for everyone. There is no admission charge, but registration is appreciated by clicking here.
