Certified enrollment numbers were recently released.

During the October meeting of the West Central Valley School Board, Superintendent Rusty Shockley shared with the Board that the district’s total certified enrollment number is 934.8, and the number of students served by the district is 797.5. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the importance of these numbers.

“The certified enrollment is what the state bases the per pupil funding source for schools. So that’s the number that the state will give the per pupil allotment each year by student to local districts.”

Shockley mentions that the certified enrollment number is what helps the state decide how much state backed funding goes to each school, based on a formula the Iowa Department of Education uses.
