The Greene County high school cross-country season ended on Saturday north of Ft. Dodge at Kennedy Park during the Iowa Coed State Meet. Junior Noah Hinote was the lone Greene County qualifier and he finished 87th in a field of 133 runners in the Class 3A boys’ race. Hinote’s time of 17:27.9 was a career best, especially notable due to cold and windy conditions.

Jeff Lamoureux said he was extremely proud of Hinote and the race he ran. This was the junior’s second State Meet, but he ran the 2022 race while ill, so this was a much more positive experience, even though the competition level was higher, from Class 2A in ’22 to 3A this season.

The Rams graduate one senior, Kolby Angell, from its top seven, so the future looks good. The coach is seeking more girls to try the sport, as Greene County had no more than four girls, and as few as two, run races in 2023.
