Halloween is Tuesday and for the City of Jefferson it will be Beggars Night.
Jefferson’s Beggars Night is from 5-7pm and Police Chief Mark Clouse says with it getting dark earlier that for parents to make sure their child stays visible especially to motorists. He recommends attaching reflective tape to the child’s costume or coat, having them wear a blinking red light, or carrying a flashlight while they are out trick-or-treating. He also advises to only go to houses that have their porch light on.
Clouse asks parents to be aware of this final item once their children get home from trick-or-treating.
“It’s probably a good idea when your kids get home with that bucket of candy, just kind of go through it and make sure everything’s okay. If something’s been opened or something like that, we just want to discard that and get rid of it.”
Other opportunities for youth to get candy is at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center from 5-7pm, the main lobby of the Greene County Medical Center from 4:30-6pm and the Sierra Community Theatre will have a haunted house in the basement from 5:30-7:30pm. Additionally, it will be cold outside with the National Weather Service predicting about right around freezing temperatures during Beggars Night.
