A Jefferson man was arrested following an alleged assault incident.

According to court documents, a Jefferson Police Officer responded to a call of an assault in the 300 block of West Reed Street just after midnight on Tuesday. One of the victims claimed that 27-year-old Joshua Parrish tried to strangle him around the throat and thought he had a possible broken arm due to a physical altercation. Court documents show that another victim had visible injuries to one side of her face, as well as a possible concussion. Parrish had blood on his arms and knuckles and told the officer he punched a wall.

Parrish was then arrested and charged with a Class D Felony for domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury, an aggravated misdemeanor for his first offense for domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, and a simple misdemeanor for disorderly conduct-fighting and/or violent behavior.

Court documents show that once Parrish was transported to the Greene County Jail and was in one of the interview rooms to be booked into jail, the suspect was not compliant with taking off a necklace he had on him. A deputy made several attempts for Parrish to surrender the jewelry and he eventually did once the deputy showed his taser and did a “warning” arch but didn’t actually have to use it on Parrish. While another inmate was being moved inside the jail, Parrish was secured in the interview room where he destroyed a light fixture, a folding table, one of the doors and a security camera microphone for a total of $1,140. Parrish was additionally charged with an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree criminal mischief and a simple misdemeanor for interference with official acts. There is also a no contact order between Parrish and the two victims.
