Both of the parks and campgrounds that the Guthrie County Conservation Department runs have had buildings readied for winter.

Director Brad Halterman tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they prepare these buildings for cold weather.

“Both at Nations Bridge and Lenon Mill Park, all of our flush restrooms and shower house, they’re not heated so we winterize those every winter. We hold off as long as we can, weather permitting.”

The restrooms and shower house were winterized October 25th, and at Nations Bridge Park, the lower campground and tower road were closed on November 1st. Halterman says that even though the two areas at Nations Bridge have been closed in preparation for the snow and cold, the upper campground will stay open, and electricity there and at Lenon Mill Park will remain on for use by anyone who wishes to still go out and camp.
