Iowa’s Third Congressional District Representative paid a visit to some Greene County High School students earlier this week.
US Congressman Zach Nunn talked with the seniors who are taking government class with Crystal Crichton, along with some juniors on Monday. Crichton tells Raccoon Valley Radio she previously reached out to Nunn’s office but then was notified this past Friday that he would be in the area and could stop out to the high school on Monday. She says Nunn briefly went over his role as a member of Congress and the committees he served on, but then he opened up for the students.

“And most of it was more interactive where he took questions or he asked questions of the students. So they got to get a lot of feedback from him and to know where he stood on a lot of issues. It was really just so that he could introduce himself to the students. It was good.”
Senior Payton Grow describes her interaction with Nunn after she answered a question correctly that he asked which was to name the three branches of the federal government.
“I received something called the ‘Challenge Coin,’ which is kind of an honor to be given by a member of Congress. He explained how it came about and how it is delivered to the recipient, which I thought was really cool. I thought it was a great experience. We got to see the American government at work. It’s ‘by the people, for the people’ and we really got to see that and feel that with the interaction with Congressman Nunn.”
Crichton adds that she was pleased with how the visit went with Congressman Nunn and the opportunity students had to have a one-on-one conversation with him.
