For anyone that may have missed the opening night of Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School’s fall musical Friday night, there are two more shows left.
The musical is “Guys and Dolls” and it’s the story of Nathan Detriot in the 1950s and his never ending quest for a safe place to host the “Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York.” Director Molly Longman says they selected this production and held auditions at the end of last school year and started working with the over 60 cast and crew this past August. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about how well rehearsals went and the collaboration that sometimes surprised her.
“There are always moments too where the students bring to it things that I did not predict or did not think about that make it even something bigger, something greater. They might have a decision or take a risk during rehearsal or have a particular way they delivered a line that would not have come to my mind, but it just fits. Once we get in a good groove then it’s great to see my vision realized to a degree but it’s always something better than that. When all of their individual personalities really take hold of their roles and everything comes together.”
Performances are tonight at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm at the high school auditorium. Tickets are $6 for students and $10 for adults, which can be purchased at the door.
