A community-wide art festival returns to Perry this weekend.

The 13th Annual Art on the Prairie will be from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. Lynsi Pasutti is one of the participants and this year’s two-day event will include ten venues and 55 artists ranging from art, to music and poetry. She talks about this year’s featured artist, Anna Segner, will be in the basement of LaPoste.

“So she will have her paintings on display in the cellar. So it ends up being a larger space instead of the typically 10(foot) by 10(foot) booth area. So it’s more of a ‘meet the artist’ type of activity and seeing that body of work that she will have.”

Pasutti says a change to one main aspect with “Poetry on the Prairie” will be at the Security Bank Building where people can do poetry readings, a workshop about poetry and be involved in poetry slams. She points out something new this year is a Friday “kick-off” at 3pm with a meet the artist reception for the community art mural.

“So the mural is above Raccoon Valley Bank, right across the street. And so at Perry Perk will be an opportunity to kind of view it from there, meet the artist, have some refreshments, and then Jamie Navarro and Katie Jensen the Des Moines based artists will be there throughout the weekend at Perry Perk, but it’s a chance to meet them at 3pm on Friday.”

Pasutti invites everyone out to this ever-growing event and shop around for quality art. Click the link below to find out more about Art on the Prairie.
