The current high school junior class was in upper elementary school when Chris Heisterkamp began a structured Youth volleyball program in Jefferson, and the years worth of effort is paying off. The Greene County varsity program recently completed its third straight winning season after nine years in a row of more losses than wins.

Heisterkamp, the head coach of the high school volleyball program, addressed the need for introducing the sport at a younger age to girls in the school district. She and others work each year on teaching the fundamentals as well as getting Youth teams entered in area tournaments.

There were only two seniors on the 2023 Greene County team with the bulk of playing time going to juniors.
