Dallas Center – Grimes boys basketball was able to put up a great season last year, and will be looking to do that again this year with a lot of their team from a season ago coming back that way. DCG went 14-10 and a substate final appearance in 2022-23.
It was the first season that the Mustangs competed at the 4A level in Iowa, and they were able to find some good results adjusting to the higher competition.
DCG will not be bringing back their leading scorer from a year ago in Hudson Ehlert who graduated, but will be projected to bring back their next five leading scorers in what is expected to be a senior laden team. Seniors Jonathan Howard and Calix Cahill both averaged 11.6 points per game a season ago. Junior Tate Perrin averaged 7.1 points per game, while Jackson Green averaged 6.6 and Jaden Jones averaging 6.0.
They will be bringing back other rotation pieces and have some exciting talent in the lower levels that might see their first varsity action of their careers this year.
DCG will be having their first practice of the season this upcoming Monday, as they look to find neat results for the upcoming year.
