As the women’s basketball team kicks off their new season, their initial focus is clear, conditioning. Head coach Jacob Cleveland believes that being able to use his players athleticism and being able to run more will be beneficial for the defensive style of play that he has planed out.

“We’re really going to work on conditioning so we can play the way we want to with running pressing and those things” explained Coach Cleveland.

This emphasis on conditioning during the early stages of the season is a straightforward approach designed to ensure that the players are in prime physical condition before progressing to more advanced aspects of the game. “We’re a young team but fundamentals will also be very important and the upper classman that we do have, I know can do a great job and bring our young girls along.”  In short, the team’s strategy is simple but important . Building stamina, strength, and endurance during the initial phase will set the stage for the players to develop their skills and find success on the court in the weeks and months to come.
