The Jayettes will send two of their swimmers to the state swim meet in Marshalltown this upcoming Saturday at the Marshalltown YMCA after their performance in the state qualifying meet last weekend at Ames High School. Quin Mahler-Moreno advanced to the state meet in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke, breaking her own school records in both events. Mahler-Moreno put up a time of 1:55:28 giving her a second place finish on the podium in the 200 meter freestyle. Again that time advanced her to state and also broke the Perry school swim record in that event. She also did the same thing putting up a time of 1:06:59 in the 100 meter breaststroke. Sophia McDevitt advanced to the state meet in the 100 Butterfly. She put up a time of 1:02:57 in that event which was a new record for the Perry swim program in the butterfly as well. The 200 meter freestyle and 400 Freestyle relays also advanced to the state meet, breaking the school records for both in the process. The 200 meter freestyle relay consisted of Aleah Karolus, Lilly Riley, Sophia McDevitt, and Quin Mahler-Moreno. They finished with a time of 1:44:14. That same crew also put up a 3:47:20 in the 400 M Freestyle that also advanced them to state.
Congrats to all Perry swimmers who advanced to the state meet in Marshalltown this upcoming Saturday. I will have much more coverage leading up to the big meet on KDLS, K 107.9 and KG 98.9 and on our website at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
