The Perry Public Library will have lots of activities happening during the two-day Art on the Prairie event.

Adult Services Librarian Mindy Farmer says there will be several Library Memorial Dedications at 1pm on Saturday.

“We have had some families that have donated in memory of their loved ones and we are going to present the new things that they have for the library and recognize those individuals.”

The first of three is in honor of Darlene Myers with a Book Board Browsing Bin for toddlers to choose their own books. The next memorial is two Lego walls in the toddler and children’s areas in memory of Becky Hammond. The third memorial is in honor of Paul Herrick with artwork displayed in the library.

Farmer says another special activity will be at 2pm Saturday with a local author, Joy Neal Kidney, with her most recent book, “Leora’s Letters: The Story of Love and Loss for an Iowa Family During World War II.” Farmer points out she will also talk about her other books.

On Sunday at 1pm will be a performance called “Lucy! One Woman Show” with Jillian Gabrielle. Farmer talks about this show.

“To do an original solo musical based on the life of Lucille Ball. If you’ve seen her before, you might remember that she wowed Perry with the story of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, a little while back.”

Finally, several students in the Perry School District will have their art on display as well both Saturday and Sunday. All activities at the library are free and open to the public.
