2023 Greene County High School graduate Kale Petersen is scheduled to make his college wrestling debut this Saturday for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Petersen is a freshman at the U. of Iowa at 133/141 lbs. The three-time Iowa high school State Champion is set to wrestle in Decorah at the Luther College Open.

Petersen hasn’t had an official college match yet, but he did travel with the Hawkeyes last weekend when they opened the dual meet season via shut out in California vs. Cal Baptist, a Big 12 Conference member for wrestling. Petersen was backing up 2023 NCAA runner-up Real Woods at 141 lbs.

The Luther Open typically has wrestlers from NCAA Division I, II, and III, plus NAIA schools, as well as unattached individuals.
