
The Guthrie Center School Board will meet for their annual meeting of the retiring Board tonight.
The Board will consider for approval land improvements for the Little Charger Early Learning Center, an abstract of votes from the recent city/school elections, and the district’s early retirement policy. They will then recognize the retiring Board members, and adjourn to welcome the new Board members.
Following the adjournment of the retiring Board meeting there will be an organizational meeting of the new Board. The new Board will host a call to order, which will be presided over by the Board secretary, then administer the oath of office to the new Board members before taking roll call. The Board will then approve the meeting agenda, and elect a Board President and Vice-President and appoint the Treasurer and Secretary.
The Board will then appoint a Guthrie County Conference Board Representative, a Title IX/Equity Coordinator, adopt rules and procedures for conducting meetings, set a regular meeting date, time and place for meetings, consider for approval resolutions to name an official publication and appoint legal council, and then adjourn for the regular meeting.
The Board will then enter the regular meeting, where they will hear administrative reports, then consider for approval open enrollment, a special education contract, resignations, contract recommendations and the early retirement policy. They will then discuss upcoming dates including the Iowa Association of School Boards Annual Convention tomorrow, Thanksgiving break from November 22nd to the 27th, and the next regular Board meeting December 20th, before considering for approval the 2023-24 depository limits and a resolution authorizing payments.
The meeting will begin at 7pm in the Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center High School Media Center. Raccoon Valley Radio will have results from the meeting tomorrow.
