A brief high speed chase in Greene County resulted in an arrest Monday.

According to court documents, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy noticed an alleged speeding motorcycle heading west on US Highway 30 at 2pm west of C Avenue. The deputy’s speed radar clocked the motorcycle going 73 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. Once the patrol vehicle’s lights were activated, the motorcyclist briefly slowed down but then accelerated.

Court documents show, a chase ensued where speeds reached 122 mph and the deputy witnessed the motorcyclists to be driving recklessly, passing vehicles and almost heading a fire truck with its emergency lights on head-on into oncoming traffic. The motorcyclist turned north onto Iowa Highway 25 where the deputy eventually slowed the vehicle to a stop.

The suspect was later identified as 29-year-old Robert Pool of Glidden. He was charged with a Class D Felony for eluding-speeding 25 or more over the speed limit, along with misdemeanors for no valid driving license, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, and speeding under 25mph in a posted zone. Pool was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail.
