Greene County opens the boys’ basketball season on Monday in Ogden as the second part of a girl/boy doubleheader vs. the Bulldogs. The Rams were 10-13 last season and the top two scorers on the team in Richard Daugherty and Jesse Miller graduated. Between them they averaged more than 31 points a game for a team that scored at a 56 points per game clip.

Lacking a lot of size and having a propensity for three-point shots, the Rams may be putting it up from outside on a regular basis. The leading scorer back from last season is senior Gabe Ebersole at 10 points per game and fellow seniors Brynley Ruzicka at 7.8 points and Nathan Behne at 5.7 are the next two highest scorers returning. Behne played in just five games as a junior due to tearing knee ligaments in an early December basketball game and undergoing surgery. He rehabbed successfully to the point where he recently was named an All-State kicker in football for the second straight year.

Ruzicka and Behne are the top three-point shooters by percentage, and those two, plus Ebersole and possible newcomers could also be weapons beyond the arc.

Monday’s twin bill at Ogden will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio,com with coverage at 5:45 p.m. The girls will play at 6 p.m. and the boys game will follow.
