Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers boys and girls basketball played in their first home doubleheader of the year on Friday night when they took on the Ballard Bombers. Two great games occurred with the two teams splitting, the boys winning in overtime 76-74 and the girls just falling by the score of 56-51. ADM boys move to 1-1 on the year while the girls fall to 1-4.
The boys played in a thrilling back and forth battle, leading nearly the entire regulation. After being tied after three quarters, ADM was able to use some huge shooting in the 4th quarter to take a lead late, but Ballard was able to get a Jude Gibson three at the buzzer to tie the game and send it into overtime. The Tigers were able to put up 15 points in overtime, including Adam Bryte able to hit back to back threes, one which was a four point play. Big free throws from Hudson Lorsensen down the stretch were able to keep ADM their lead and ultimately lead to a major victory. All five starters were in double figures for the Tigers.
The girls almost pulled off a great upset at home, using a major night from junior Kelli Storck, who was able to put up a career high 28 points in a tremendous performance. Aubrey Winter was able to chip in with 11 points.
ADM will return to the court on Tuesday when they take on the Gilbert Tigers on the road.
