The Dallas County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday appointed a new County Treasurer.

The Board appointed Deputy Treasurer Summer Portzen to be the County Treasurer until the 2024 November election. The appointment was to fill a vacancy when Mitch Hambleton resigned as county treasurer this past November. County Auditor Julia Helm told the Board the public has 14 days from Tuesday to call for a special election by submitting a petition with 4,461 signatures.

The Board also approved the eighth pay application of $1,001,110 for work done through November 30th on the administrative building project, a $7,200 air barrier observation and testing agreement with SystemWorks for the same project. Next, the Board approved an agreement with Greater Dallas County Development Alliance for an Iowa Economic Development Authority grant for the Osmundson expansion project in Perry.

Additionally, the Board held a public hearing and approved the first reading for an ordinance to re-codify the code of ordinances with no changes from the last codification in 2018. They also approved two purchases of right of ways for $645 each for a culvert replacement project with the Secondary Roads Department, an HSC generator electrical services contract amendment to include a couple of provisions as outlined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and two re-appointments to the County Board of Health with Lina Reinders and Lauren Little.

The meeting ended in an Emergency Medical Services workshop.
