About 20 people were at a meet and greet event for a Republican presidential candidate that made a stop in Jefferson Wednesday.
Ryan Binkley is a Dallas, Texas native and is a CEO of an investment company with about 400 employees. He also started a church ten years ago with his wife, of which he still preaches twice per month at. Binkley describes what inspired him to run for president.
“Then about eight years ago I had a dream from God that, ‘Hey run for President of the United States,’ and boy when you have a dream like that you’re like, ‘Is that symbolic or is that literal?’ But you know I prayed about it and about a year later I had another one, and then they kept coming. And so now I’m sharing this message that it’s time for an economic, you know that’s my perspective I see through, get our country back in line economically and spiritually. Our country is broken at the heart level. Let’s get our country back to God and each other, let’s heal this nation.”
At the event, Binkley spoke about wanting to balance the budget and one of those ways is to stop having the federal government print its own money to pay for everyone and its bills. He also wants to correct the healthcare system by having price for procedure and treatment transparency and expand health savings accounts, while also getting rid of “Big Pharma.”
Binkley also wants to change education by having college students help younger kids to read, because he said one in six students are reading at grade level, and he wants to secure the southern border by finishing the wall and also establishing a visa system with long-time immigrants that have lived in the country.
