The Adair County Clover Kids are collecting items for a good cause.

Many people may ask what they are collecting, and Clover Kids Leader Terri Raasch says it’s plastic bags. She mentions that right now there are three Clover Kids groups in Adair County with roughly 45 total members. She adds that to keep things fun for these children in kindergarten through 3rd grade, Clover Kids can’t do fundraisers.

Raasch mentions that because of that, they were able to write for, and were awarded a grant through the Empowering Adair County Foundation. She explains that this is where collecting the plastic bags comes in, as they are wanting to recycle the bags to make a picnic table. The money from the grant covers the molding and shipping of the table, but the Clover Kids still have a ways to go. Raasch says that it will take about 500 pounds of plastic bags to make the table, and with one pound of bags being roughly 67 bags, they are needing 33,500 bags in total. She adds that the picnic table made through this process will be used at the Adair County Fairgrounds.
